Exercise and You: What You Should Know About Physical Activity
"You are too skinny to be exercising." This must be the funniest statement everrr! Whoever came up with such idea? I have heard it so much in the past, from a lot of people that I
actually started to believe it. Maybe, just maybe I was feeding my lazy side. You know, that part of me that would rather lay in bed and watch a movie all day.
But now? I know better. Knowledge they say is power. It all depends on what you do with yours. If I have learned anything from my Health and Fitness classes, it's that nobody is too skinny or too fat to exercise. Unless you are medically inclined not to.
Everyone, I repeat, everyone is required to engage in at least 30 minutes of Physical Activity (brisk walking, running, jogging, biking, weight training, playing soccer etc) every day. Just by adding daily exercise as part of your healthy lifestyle releases pent-up stress and helps to protect the heart. Not just your heart, exercise makes you feel good. It gets you hyped and feeling all kinds of sexiness! 😀 For real though.
Since I love to dance, I use that as my cardio workout. Sometimes I use the treadmill. If I feel I have been slacking on my workout routine, I do three days intensive workout.
Exercise is not just about looking fit or looking good, It's primarily about your general well being. Your bones will thank you later when that Osteoporosis skips you at your old age. Here are some benefits of Physical Activity, according to CDC, It controls your weight, reduces your risk of cardiovascular disease, reduces your risk of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, reduces your risk of some cancers, as stated earlier; strengthens your bones and muscles, improves your mental health and mood, improves your ability to do daily activities and prevent falls; in older adults, and it also increases your chances of living longer. This kind of sums it all.
So now you know. You need to start exercising. Any form or kind of physical activity is good for you. Don't live a sedentary life. I'm not perfect, still working towards making it habit. 💪 Just in case, you don't have any idea what type of routines to incorporate into your workouts, some apps on Android or IOS can help. I have this app called 7 MWC on my iPhone, although I barely use it. I like to think I'm a connoisseur in that area. The app is worth a try.
