You are More Than One thing
"How will you describe yourself in one word?" This is a tough question, especially for those that view themselves as many things. It's easier for society to identify a person as being one thing than to identify that person as more than one. Simply put, it is easier. In reality, putting someone in a box is not ideal. Everyone has different aspects to them. For instance, your mom is your mom and in most cases, she's also a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a best friend, an aunt, a grandmother, a stranger, a nurse, or a doctor or an artist; whichever the case may be.
Her role as a mom is totally different from her role as an aunt or her role as a sister. So, it will be totally wrong to see her as one thing when she's these other things. In that sense, the way she is as a mother will totally be different from when she is being a daughter or when she is in her place of work.
Fear of being criticized makes people succumb to the idea of identifying as just one thing. In effect, this rubs people to be expressive and adventurous..." I can't be a mom and a photographer." You can be anything, as long as you are determined to work for it. Embrace your uniqueness, don't let anyone put you in a box.
